The Russian Wilderness
The Russian Wilderness is a few miles southeast of the Marbles, which is a 12,000 acre area established by the 1984 California Wilderness Act. This wilderness spans the major ridge dividing the Scott and Salmon River drainages. It contains 22 lakes, mostly set in glacial bowls surrounded by granite peaks. The extensive trail system, including the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT), accesses many high mountain lakes in the Russian Wilderness.
